ABOUT US

Roxburgh Selkirk and Peebles Branch is affiliated to the Royal Scottish Country Dance Society  and  covers the beautiful Scottish Borders from Peebles in the west, to Kelso in the east, and Hawick and Jedburgh in the south.
There are clubs in 10 towns and villages, most of them of mixed abilities, who will welcome beginners and experienced danced alike.
Most classes run from September to Easter and take place in community, school and church halls. Each class has its own teacher and many dancers attend more than one class.
On Friday nights one of the clubs will host a dance with live music, great dances and where dancers get a chance to catch up with friends from other clubs and from our neighbouring branch Duns and District with which we have strong links.
The Branch hosts Autumn Classes in Galashiels at the beginning of term, to teach  the dances from the latest RSCDS Book, and get everyone dancing again after the summer break .  A day school, consisting of morning classes and an afternoon dance, is held in November. Then, in February, there is a fundraising Committee Dance which is danced to recorded music and funds a lot of the work done in schools led by our Youth Co-ordinator. The programme for this committee dance is comprised of less complicated dances to encourage less experienced dancers to come along and experience a Friday night event. To round off the branch year, a spring picnic dance is held in April.
